Training
Cub Scout leader training falls into several categories:
- Required Leader Training
- Fast Start Training: This required course covers the basics of the Scouting program. To complete this training, you can check out and watch a video from the Council office – but most people complete the course online.
- New Leader Essentials Training: This required course gives greater detail about the values, aims, history, funding, and methods of Scouting. Instructors will use videos and discussions during the 90-minute training session. This course is administered at the district level, and leaders can attend any district’s course.
- New Leader Specific training: This required course goes into greater detail about your specific leadership position. For example, if you’re a Cubmaster, you’ll cover topics and information that is specific to the job of Cubmaster. Same idea if you’re a Den Leader or Pack Committee Member. This course is also administered at the district level, and leaders can attend any district’s course.
- Youth Protection Training: This required course will give you the Boy Scouts of America’s policies and procedures to protect its members from child abuse. You can take the course in a classroom setting in your district, or complete it online.
- Optional, but valuable, Leader Training

How do I get Trained
Training is provide through both on-line sources and through the Bee Caves District and capitol Area Council. All completed training should be recorded with the Capitol Area Council and the Pack's record keeper. Visit these links to find out what is offered and when and register on-line:
