Bridge Point Elementary Cub Scout Pack 39 A 2007 Quality Unity of the Boy Scouts of America |
ARROW OF LIGHT CEREMONY
Background The Arrow of Light ceremony is the final event of Cub Scouting. The ceremony is for the Webelos II (5th grade) scouts and their parents, but all of the scouts in Pack 39 are encouraged to attend and wish the Webelos II well as they leave Cub Scouts and bridge over to Boy Scouts. As part of the ceremony, the Webelos II who are entering the Boy Scouts are welcomed into their new troops. Those who have earned the award are presented with the Arrow of Light and a ceremonial arrow. The Arrow of Light is one of the most important awards that a Cub Scout can earn and it is the only Cub Scout award that is worn on the Boy Scout uniform.
To send them on their way, the Pack forms a
gauntlet for them to pass through, wishing them well and speeding them on.
Then it's outside for tradition, American Indian culture, scaling heights and
pyrotechnics. Visually, it is one of the coolest ceremonies around.
Any cub attending will receive a special Arrow of Light patch to add to his
Red Vest.
Please make it a point to come. Your cubs
will love it!
